According to reports, Ezra Mam is about to turn down six NRL teams that are interested in signing him back to the Brisbane Broncos on a lucrative new contract. The Daily Telegraph reports that the five-eighth will agree to a contract worth about $3 million for a four-year stay at Red Hill.

Mam, who has become an NRL superstar over the past two seasons, scored three explosive tries in the Broncos’ NRL grand final loss to the Panthers. After taking home only $250,000 in 2023, he has received a sizable pay increase; however, in 2025, that amount will increase significantly.

The new contract will rank among the richest in Broncos history, with an average annual value of $750,000. In the midst of a salary cap crunch that threatened to hurt both him and explosive fullback Reece Walsh, it will also support Brisbane’s future.

Walsh only made $450,000 this season, but he is also expected to sign a massive contract extension that will likely bring in over $1 million annually. This year, the 21-year-old played a major role in the Queensland team’s success in the State of Origin and helped lead the Broncos to the NRL grand final.

However, there have been worries expressed that the team might not have the money to retain both of its young players. Kurt Capewell’s quick departure to the Warriors and the salary reductions that veterans Adam Reynolds and Corey Oates will accept, however, have allayed those fears.

Dolphins head coach Wayne Bennett had previously stated that Mam was a target for the team. He declared, “In the grand final, he was the best player on the ground.” Our interest would be piqued if he were to become available for purchase. Ezra is a good player, but we have four halves that can play there. He has a lot going for him.

It can be difficult to acquire a guy like Ezra because there are likely eight other clubs that are interested in him as well. But we’ll be involved if he’s available. We have signed three or four Broncos players. I only consider whether a player possesses the skills we need, and Ezra can definitely benefit us. I don’t care what club a guy plays for.
