“Feels Really Good” Geno Smith & Additional Seahawks Injury Updates

Pete Carroll, the coach of the Seahawks, provided an injury update going into Week 15.

In advance of their Monday night game against the Eagles, the Seahawks kicked off practice week on Thursday. Starting quarterback Geno Smith gave them some positive news to start the week.

Smith returned to action on Thursday after missing Seattle’s Week 14 match due to a groin injury. Seahawks coach Pete Carroll stated that Smith still needs to play through the week, but Smith is in good health as practice week begins.

Carroll stated, “Geno went through the walkthrough today; he’s going to practice today,” before Thursday’s session. He had a smooth lift this morning, so we’ll observe how things go and work that out day by day. We’ll see what happens today and hopefully he’s ready to go because he feels great and threw the ball really well in the morning session. If not, Drew (Lock) will be present; we’ll rotate representatives to ensure everyone is ready, but that’s encouraging for us. Geno wants to play in the worst possible way, so we’re hoping for his benefit.”

Carroll responded that Smith is feeling good even though he had only seen him in a walkthrough and asked how Smith was moving around with the injured groin.

Carroll remarked, “He did everything, he moved around just fine.” “It was a walkthrough, so we’ll go to practice this afternoon and see how that goes and just take one session at a time, but he feels really good that he’s ready to go.”

Carroll described rookie cornerback Devon Witherspoon’s status as “day-to-day.” Witherspoon left Sunday’s game due to a hip pointer injury, and he was not expected to practice on Thursday.

Carroll declared, “He won’t work today.” “We’ll rest him a little bit longer, and we won’t know, we’ve got to take it day-to-day with that one.”

Kenneth Walker III and Zach Charbonnet, two running backs who were listed as questionable going into last week’s game due to injuries—Walker had an oblique strain, and Charbonnet had a bruised knee—were both able to play, according to Carroll’s positive update.

Carroll claimed that “they made it out quite well.” “They looked fantastic as they got going for the week today. There are no problems with what they were dealing with the previous week because both guys are in great spirits.”

Participating in the walkthrough, cornerback Artie Burns, who left the game last weekend due to a knee injury, “is looking OK,” according to Carroll.

Abraham Lucas, a right tackle who has appeared in the last two games following a 10-game absence due to a knee injury, is also doing well. Lucas played 90% of Seattle’s offensive snaps last week, up from 59 percent the week before, and he felt good about his performance despite the increased workload.

Carroll stated, “I spoke with Abe this morning, and he seems like he’s back.” “He truly feels like he’s back, self-assured, and content. Although it has taken him a few weeks to get comfortable playing, that is encouraging. Going forward, we are depending on him. He ought to be very healthy.
