CJ Stroud’s injury status is provided by the Houston Texans ahead of their Week 15 matchup against the Tennessee Titans in the NFL.

ROOKIE quarterback C.J. Stroud, drafted second overall this Spring, has made a significant impact in the NFL. However, it seems he is likely to miss his first game since joining the Houston Texans.

After being knocked out of Houston’s 30-6 Week 14 loss to the New York Jets with a concussion, Stroud has been in the concussion protocol throughout the week. The Texans’ final Injury Report for Week 15 lists Stroud as doubtful for their upcoming game against the Tennessee Titans on Sunday, indicating that he is not expected to play, according to Houston’s NBC affiliate KPRC 2.

Texans head coach DeMeco Ryans provided an update on Stroud’s condition on Friday, mentioning that the rookie quarterback is “starting to feel a little bit better.” Ryans emphasized that Stroud’s health is the top priority, stating, “It’s all about the health of C.J.”

Ryans mentioned that Stroud is “starting to watch a little film” and is focused on regaining his health and returning to normal. The coach stressed that Stroud’s well-being takes precedence over the game.

Regarding a potential replacement for Stroud, third-year quarterback Davis Mills is reportedly “preparing to start,” as per KPRC 2. Mills took over for Stroud during the Jets game, completing 1 of 5 passes for four yards.

Ryans informed the media that both Mills and veteran Case Keenum have been preparing for the game throughout the week. He emphasized that everyone on the team needs to be ready, stating, “Everybody needs to prepare as a starter.”

In addition to Stroud, the Texans will be without several starters against the Titans. Rookie defensive end Will Anderson Jr., linebacker Blake Cashman, and cornerback Tavierre Thomas have been declared out. Wideout Nico Collins and right tackle George Fant are listed as questionable but are not expected to play. Wide receiver Noah Brown, guard Shaq Mason, and linebacker Henry To’oto’o are also listed as questionable.

Currently ranked third in the AFC South with a 7-6 record, the Texans are just one win behind the first-placed Jacksonville Jaguars.
