Cayden Green, who previously played for Oklahoma, has made a commitment to join Mizzou.

Remember when Eli Drinkwitz made quite the entrance by literally showing up at Cayden Green’s high school in a dump truck? Those were enjoyable times, weren’t they?

Cayden Green was part of a trio of highly sought-after offensive line recruits from the 2023 class, and initially, only one of them, Logan Reichert, ended up joining Mizzou. However, the transfer portal has a way of granting second chances, and just a week after departing from Oklahoma, where he stood out as one of the Sooners’ top offensive linemen during his true freshman year, Cayden Green announced his decision to head east and play for the Missouri Tigers.

This commitment is undeniably significant. Even in its current form as a great equalizer, the transfer portal rarely yields players of Green’s caliber—a young, blue-chip talent with ample eligibility and a full season’s worth of on-field experience. Green, having been a Pro Football Focus Freshman All-American for the Sooners, is already an accomplished player, not one with unrealized potential.

Mizzou, facing departures like Javon Foster and Xavier Delgado this offseason, urgently needed to strengthen its offensive line. In securing Green, they not only achieve that goal but arguably elevate the ceiling of Mizzou’s offensive line to a level higher than the previous year.

The fact that Mizzou managed to acquire a player of Green’s caliber and simultaneously weaken an in-conference rival is undoubtedly noteworthy.
