Meet BreDavid Stone, an Oklahoma linebacker, leads a strong 2024 signing class.

David Stone, a highly sought-after 5-star defensive lineman, finally signed with Oklahoma on Wednesday.

Stone is regarded as a 5-star recruit and the seventh-best player in the country overall, making him one of the most highly anticipated interior defensive linemen to pass through Norman in a long time. Winning Stone’s recruitment was crucial for the Sooners, especially with Brent Venables leading his squad into the SEC. Stone is originally from Del City, Oklahoma.

Even though schools like Miami and Alabama made last-minute pushes, OU was able to secure Stone’s commitment in August. The 6-foot-4, 280-pound defensive lineman has since expressed his devotion to the Sooners on social media.

Stone’s combination of size and athleticism gives him surprising speed and quickness in addition to impressive power. During his time at IMG Academy, Stone, a defensive back, saw action on both the interior and the edge.

Stone is physically gifted enough to earn reps in Todd Bates and Miguel Chavis’ rotation from year one in Norman, even with the returning depth along Oklahoma’s defensive line.

Mykel Patterson-McDonald, a 2024 OU signee, and Stone were childhood friends after they met while playing youth football in the Oklahoma City area.

By 8:30 a.m. on Early Signing Day, the Sooners had signed 13 prospects. They also anticipate adding 27 scholarship players through high school recruiting, along with a few skilled walk-ons and more seasoned veterans through the transfer portal.
