When informed that five-star wide receiver Jeremiah Smith has signed, Ohio State head coach Ryan Day “faints.”

On the first day of the early signing period on Wednesday, Jeremiah Smith signed a contract with Ohio State, capping weeks and months of speculation. There had been speculation that Florida State was interested in flipping the five-star wide receiver.

It also gave Ohio State head coach Ryan Day a chance to make light of the circumstance.

Smith is among the best athletes in the country, if not the best recruit. He finished as a senior this past fall with 1,389 receiving yards and 19 touchdowns on 90 receptions for No. 2 Chaminade-Madonna (Hollywood, Florida).

Furthermore, Smith did more than just entertain other suitors despite verbally committing to Ohio State since last December.

He made unofficial visits and had a great time interacting with other fan bases on social media.

However, Smith signed with Ohio State early on Wednesday afternoon, while Day was speaking about the class of 2024 at the podium. Additionally, the media was able to observe Day’s response to the news in real time.
Smith is a five-star wide receiver and the seventh-best recruit in the country, according to ESPN.
