In Week 16, the Rams bench the rookie and bring back Rob Havenstein and Tutu Atwell.

Prior to their Thursday Night Football game against the New Orleans Saints, the Los Angeles Rams made their estimated injury report designations public. Who is ready to leave?

In order to get ready for their Thursday Night Football matchup against the New Orleans Saints, the Los Angeles Rams will have to overcome the challenges that come with having a short week.

Luckily, they get to spend one less night traveling and spend more time in their own bed by hosting the Week 16 opener. However, having less time to practice and recover usually affects Thursday’s activities.

Thankfully, Los Angeles received some positive news on Wednesday. The injury designations, like its reports from Monday and Tuesday, were estimates. Rather than holding a regular practice, the Rams conducted walkthroughs on Tuesday and Wednesday.

When the Green Bay Packers and Los Angeles Rams football teams square off on Sunday, November 5, 2023, at Lambeau Field in Green Bay, Wisconsin, cornerback Carrington Valentine (37) of the Packers looks at wide receiver Tutu Atwell (5) after breaking up a pass attempt.

Both receiver Tutu Atwell (concussion) and tackle Rob Havenstein (groin) will be back for Los Angeles after missing the team’s home victory over the Washington Commanders in Week 15. In a game where garbage time allowed the score to close, the Rams triumphed 28-20.

Los Angeles (7-7) is firmly in must-win mode as they take on the frustrating but more than capable Saints team (7-7) to put the Rams’ hopes of making the playoffs in jeopardy. Los Angeles has to finish 2-1, but they have a big game against the San Francisco 49ers in Week 18, so head coach Sean McVay’s team will be under pressure.

In the victory, receiver Demarcus Robinson performed admirably, taking over for Atwell and seeing 95% of the team’s offensive plays. He was effective in the game, rushing for 23 yards and adding two catches for 44 yards and a score. With Atwell back, the Rams can spread the field horizontally with a more potent offense.

Naturally, Havenstein will also be a huge assistance. The front seven for New Orleans has performed admirably, so his return frees up lineman Joe Noteboom, who took his place but is currently doubtful due to a foot injury.

Although there was a scare about his injury, cornerback Ahkello Witherspoon (groin) is expected to play, and running back Ronnie Rivers will almost certainly return, though his playing time may be limited.

In the first half at SoFi Stadium, Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Cooper Kupp (10) runs the ball against Washington Commanders cornerback Kendall Fuller (29).

In contrast, three “Did Not Participate in Practice” designations for rookie defensive back Tre Tomlinson, who is dealing with a hamstring injury, forced him to miss practice.

In what promises to be a high-stakes prime-time matchup, expect the Rams to be healthier on Thursday than they were for the victory last week.
