Louisianans make up LSU Football’s 2024 recruiting class.
LSU’s 2024 recruiting class exhibits a distinct Louisiana influence, with 20 out of the 27 signees hailing from the state, including 16 who were born there. Dashawn McBryde, a safety from Denham Springs, stands out as one of the nation’s top players in his position, earning praise from Coach Brian Kelly.
Kelly expressed enthusiasm about McBryde, noting his exceptional skills as a safety capable of covering secondary receivers, proficient tackling, academic excellence, and commendable character.
In addition to McBryde, LSU secured the commitment of JuJuan Johnson, recognized as the most productive high school quarterback in Louisiana prep history. Johnson, who achieved state records for total yards and touchdowns during his four-year tenure at Lafayette Christian, is expected to play cornerback for the Tigers. However, Kelly remains open to exploring his offensive potential.
Reflecting on the defensive additions, LSU signed six defensive backs and five offensive linemen, including Weston Davis, Ethan Calloway, Ory Williams, Khayree Lee, and Joseph Cryer from Natchitoches Central. Notably, Davis and Williams showcase their versatility as accomplished basketball players. Kelly emphasized the importance of not just size but also agility and football intelligence in these linemen, describing them as individuals with the ability to move well, demonstrating a combination of size and athleticism that aligns with the team’s desired profile.
