Dominick McKinley is postponing his signing and plans to make a visit to Tennessee instead.

Dominick McKinley, a highly sought-after defensive lineman and committed Texas A&M player, has decided to postpone his signing day to the upcoming signing day period. McKinley, standing at 6-5 and weighing 280 pounds, hails from Acadiana High School in Lafayette, Louisiana. Although he pledged to Texas A&M on September 1st, he has opted not to sign early with the Aggies.

According to reports from 247Sports’ Steve Wiltfong, McKinley has been actively communicating with several schools and is planning to embark on an official visit to Tennessee in January. The anticipated date for this visit is January 20th, coinciding with the Alabama vs. Tennessee basketball game at Thompson-Boling Arena within the Food City Center.

Earlier this month, Tennessee conducted an in-home visit with McKinley, with defensive coordinator Tim Banks and defensive line coach Rodney Garner meeting with the five-star prospect. McKinley’s mother has explicitly stated to 247Sports that there is no possibility of him signing early.

While Tennessee has secured a visit from McKinley, they are not the sole team in contention. LSU, McKinley’s in-state college, has also been in contact, aiming to arrange an official visit in January.

Despite already having commitments in the edge and defensive line positions for this class, including players like Jordan Ross, Kellen Lindstrom, Jamal Wallace, Jeremias Heard, and Carson Gentle, among others, most of these commits are expected to play on the outer edge. McKinley, with his potential to be a force in the middle of the line, adds a unique dimension. The extended duration of McKinley’s recruitment works in Tennessee’s favor as they strive to make a significant impact and potentially secure a third five-star prospect.
