Jim Harbaugh is considering a contract proposal from Michigan that includes a stipulation preventing him from pursuing NFL opportunities in 2024.

It’s been almost ten years since Jim Harbaugh last coached in the NFL, yet he remains a compelling potential candidate in the upcoming head-coach hiring cycle.

While currently guiding Michigan in preparation for the College Football Playoff semifinal against Alabama on New Year’s Day in the Rose Bowl, Harbaugh is faced with a significant decision.

According to sources, despite having a contract with Michigan until 2026, Harbaugh has received an offer for a 10-year, $125-million contract extension, positioning him among the highest-paid coaches in college football. However, there’s a condition tied to the NFL.

In the event that Harbaugh decides to sign the extension, which he has yet to do, he would commit to not considering or accepting an NFL coaching position for the 2024 season. The NFL clause is stipulated for only one season, but this condition has seemingly prolonged the decision-making process.
