Running back TreVeyon Henderson from the Ohio State Buckeyes is set to participate in the Cotton Bowl against Missouri.

TreVeyon Henderson will be in uniform for the Buckeyes at Jerry World.

Ohio State running back TreVeyon Henderson has affirmed that he will participate in the Cotton Bowl Classic against No. 9 Missouri on Friday in Arlington. As the junior heads into the season finale, he is still contemplating whether to return to Columbus for the 2024 season.

Henderson, addressing reporters in Arlington on Wednesday, expressed uncertainty about his future plans, stating, “I’m not sure what I’ll be doing, but I’ve been praying on it.”

The presence of Henderson adds stability to the ground game and introduces a second dimension to the offensive strategy. The Buckeyes faced limitations at the running back position, with Myian Williams declaring for the draft and Evan Pryor (Cincinnati) and Chip Trayanum (Kentucky) transferring.

With Henderson’s status confirmed, Ohio State now has two scholarship running backs available for the matchup against the Tigers (10-2). Dallan Hayden, who initially aimed to redshirt in 2023, is the alternative in case Henderson encounters an injury or is sidelined.

While Henderson contemplates a return for the next season to pursue a Big Ten title, the consideration of his draft status is pertinent. Despite being regarded as a Day 2 pick, running backs often experience a decline in draft stock with age due to the extensive number of repetitions in college.

Reflecting on his time with the team, Henderson emphasized that personal growth is the paramount memory he will carry with him, irrespective of achievements like beating a rival or winning championships.

In nine games, Henderson compiled impressive statistics, rushing for 854 yards and 11 touchdowns on 137 carries. Additionally, he contributed 229 yards on 19 receptions, averaging 12.1 yards per catch.

Henderson is set to join Denzel Burke as confirmed players for the Friday night game at AT&T Stadium. While receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. did not partake in Tuesday’s practice and may opt out, tight end Cade Stover, linebacker Tommy Eichenberg, and defensive linemen J.T. Tuimoloau and Mike Hall Jr. are expected to play after participating in practice.
