Brian Hartline provides a cryptic reply regarding Marvin Harrison Jr.’s participation in the Cotton Bowl.
The Ohio State Buckeyes are gearing up for their upcoming Cotton Bowl clash against the Missouri Tigers from the SEC, scheduled for Friday. As the Tigers strategize, uncertainty looms over whether they’ll need to defend against Marvin Harrison Jr., the Heisman finalist wide receiver.
There has been ongoing speculation that Harrison, a standout player for the Buckeyes, might choose to opt out of the Cotton Bowl to focus on preparing for the NFL Draft. Despite this, Harrison traveled with the team to Texas, suggesting he might still be in contention to play.
Recent developments have fueled speculation about Harrison’s participation. He did not participate in team practices on both Tuesday and Wednesday, adding to the uncertainty. The coaching staff of the Buckeyes has not provided much clarity on the situation.
In response to inquiries about Harrison’s status, Ohio State’s wide receivers coach, Brian Hartline, maintained a teasing tone, stating, “How do you know Marvin’s not playing? I don’t know, I guess we’ll just have to find out on Friday.” When asked about Harrison’s apparent frustration while observing practice, Hartline explained, “Any rep that he doesn’t take, he is frustrated and always wanting to be out there on every rep.” Hartline emphasized his role in ensuring Harrison avoids unnecessary exposure but left the question of playing time to head coach Ryan Day.
Adding to the ambiguity, Hartline mentioned that other players might get an opportunity against Missouri, stating, “I’m excited to see some of these guys get different opportunities that maybe they haven’t gotten through the year.”
The situation remains unclear, and the resolution may only come to light when the Buckeyes and Tigers face off on Friday at 8 p.m. ET at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.
