Dominick McKinley Provides Latest on College Recruitment and Shares Thoughts on Tennessee Football

Five-star defensive lineman Dominick McKinley from Lafayette, Louisiana, has decided to postpone his signing and will make an official visit to the University of Tennessee in January. McKinley, originally committed to Texas A&M, opted not to sign his national letter of intent on the early signing day, indicating a potential reopening of his recruitment due to coaching staff changes at Texas A&M. While he is still establishing connections with the new coaching staff at Texas A&M, he has chosen to explore opportunities with Tennessee and LSU, scheduling official visits in January.

According to reports from 247Sports’ Steve Wiltfong, McKinley has been in contact with several schools, and an official visit to Tennessee is planned for January 20th, coinciding with the Alabama vs. Tennessee basketball game at Thompson-Boling Arena, Food City Center.

Tennessee has actively pursued McKinley, conducting an in-home visit earlier in the month with defensive coordinator Tim Banks and defensive line coach Rodney Garner. McKinley’s mother emphasized that he would not be signing early, confirming the decision to delay the signing. The Vols are optimistic about their chances, especially with McKinley spending time around Tennessee commits during the Under Armour All-American Game, providing a favorable environment for the team. Despite the scheduled visit, there is anticipated strong competition for McKinley’s commitment.
