Ohio State Buckeyes secure the transfer of ex-Ohio Bobcats tight end Will Kacmarek.

The Buckeyes have made their first addition from the transfer portal for the upcoming offseason, securing former Ohio Bobcats tight end Will Kacmarek, who will join the team starting in 2024.

Kacmarek, a sophomore from St. Louis, Missouri, spent both of his college years with the Bobcats. During his time in Athens, Ohio, he recorded 42 receptions, two touchdowns, and just over 500 yards.

Expressing his enthusiasm on social media, Kacmarek stated, “Very excited for this new opportunity! Thank you friends, family, and coaches for helping me get to this position!”

His arrival comes at a crucial time for the Buckeyes, who are facing the departure of key players from the tight-end position. Senior tight end Cade Stover concluded his final game with the Buckeyes in the 2023 Goodyear Cotton Bowl, and fellow senior Joe Royer entered the transfer portal in early December. Kacmarek will join seniors Gee Scott Jr. and Jelani Thurman, a redshirt freshman, along with new recruits from the early signing day.

Standing at 6-foot-6 and weighing 256 pounds, Kacmarek provides a substantial option as both a blocking and pass-catching tight end. With similar physical attributes to the departing Stover, it is anticipated that Kacmarek will be utilized in comparable ways to his predecessor, who is headed to the NFL draft.
