The Lions have released a former defensive tackle from the Steelers.
PITTSBURGH — The Detroit Lions have decided to part ways with Isaiah Buggs, the former defensive tackle for the Pittsburgh Steelers, just ahead of the playoffs. According to information from NFL Network’s Tom Peliserro, the team has chosen to waive Buggs, a former sixth-round pick, in order to make room for a returning defensive player.
Buggs had joined the Lions last season after being released by the Steelers in 2021. During his time with the Lions, he played in 27 games, making 16 starts. In the current season, Buggs participated in 10 games, starting in three, and contributed with 12 tackles, two tackles for loss, one sack, and one fumble recovery.
This roster move creates an available spot for the return of defensive tackle Alim McNeill, who is expected to come back from Injured Reserve in time for Week 18’s game. McNeill had spent four weeks on IR due to a knee sprain.
Buggs had a three-season stint with the Steelers, playing in 29 games, including seven starts, and accumulating 31 tackles during his tenure with Pittsburgh.
