Ohio State faces the departure of a linebacker to the NFL, even though the player had the option to extend their collegiate career for another season.

Ohio State football is experiencing departures not only through the transfer portal but also through the NFL draft.

On Tuesday afternoon, senior linebacker Steele Chambers announced on his Instagram that he would be forgoing his remaining season of eligibility to enter the draft. Chambers, who spent five seasons in Columbus, showed improvement in tackles each year. However, his impact plays did not see the same improvement, with the past season seeing him fail to register a sack, though he did manage to intercept a pass.

Chambers’ decision to leave adds to the loss of another key contributor to the linebacker room, Tommy Eichenberg, who has also departed from the program. Despite these departures, the Buckeyes can anticipate the return of Cody Simon, ensuring that the linebacker unit remains competitive.
