Gerald Mincey Joins Transfer Portal

Gerald Mincey, an offensive tackle for the Tennessee Volunteers, has registered on the NCAA Transfer Portal.

Another player from Tennessee has entered the transfer portal. Gerald Mincey is the offensive lineman this time. Mincey is a Florida native who plays offensive tackle in Fort Lauderdale. utsports.com states that he weighs 337 pounds and is about 6 feet 6 inches tall. Last year, he was a redshirt junior. He participated in all 13 games, which included the bowl game, starting seven of those contests.

He has made the decision to complete his college education somewhere else, despite his initial announcement that he would return to Tennessee. He will now leave Tennessee, where he was a projected starter at tackle for the Volunteers in 2024. After transferring from the Florida Gators, where he played in ten games for the Gators in 2021, he has spent the last two seasons with Tennessee. As a three-star prospect entering college, he was a former 2020 recruit who ranked 689th overall in the On3 industry rankings. Several universities nationwide actively recruited him prior to his commitment to Florida and his subsequent transfer to the Tennessee Volunteers.

Despite being involved in some legal issues following a minor possession charge, Mincey remained a valuable member of coach Heupel’s offensive team. As a form of punishment after his charge, he was limited, but it never kept him from playing.

They would need to find a replacement if Mincey were to walk through and leave the Volunteers. Although it is unclear who would see time at tackle, Bennett Warren, the incoming freshman for the Volunteers, could cause some confusion during practice. Warren is a 6’8″ (325 pound) Sugar Land, Texas, prospect. Fans in Tennessee will get to see Warren up close on January 6th when he plays in the All-American Bowl.
