The University of Michigan football team supports a Michigan teen who is battling a rare illness.

(Detroit CBS) – Through the “Team Impact” program, a Michigan teen who is battling a rare illness has attended every home football game for the Michigan football team over the past two years.

“The idea that I could get to know the guys and have conversations with them is just so unbelievable. It is amazing,” 17-year-old Noah Wells exclaimed.

Noah committed to play football for the Michigan Wolverines last year by signing a letter of intent. Since then, he has attended every home game and even hosted players at his house.

Even on New Year’s Eve, Noah and his family went to the Rose Bowl to watch Michigan defeat Alabama.

Noah remarked, “It is pretty crazy that they would let me come along.”

Noah and his family are welcome to attend the College Football Playoff National Championship game between the Wolverines and the Washington Huskies.

Actually, Noah has been battling his own struggles.

“Jeune syndrome is a rare genetic disorder that Noah has. They have enlarged his rib cage to give him more breathing room because his chest cavity is a little small for his body. His lifetime medical history includes well over sixty-six surgeries as well as innumerable hospital stays due to colds and flu. He simply does not have the same lung capacity as a typical 17-year-old. “Team Impact is simply a fantastic program,” stated Josh Wells, Noah’s father.

An organization called Team Impact matches college sports teams with children or teenagers who have life-threatening illnesses.

Noah described the past two years as a “dream come true,” and he sounds a lot like a seasoned head coach offering wise counsel to his players while he battles his illness.

Noah remarked, “You just have to keep going forward and forget about the past.”

Lastly, his picks for the game on Monday are as follows:

“Washington a little, Michigan a lot,” Noah projects.

Noah is traveling to Houston on Saturday with his family in order to attend the Monday night game.
