According to reports, Rangers have suffered a setback in their hunt for Vitesse Arnhem’s Million Manhoef.

In a cut-price £2.5 million agreement, the 22-year-old Dutch winger was linked to a move to Ibrox earlier this January transfer window. Although it would be a major win for the highly-regarded attacker, club executives are reportedly willing to “veto” any potential departure for their star since they believe it would condemn them to relegation. This is according to sources in Der Gerlander.

The article claims that in order for the team to have the best chance of finishing in the division, both head coach Edward Sturing and technical director Benjamin Schmedes believe that Manhoef needs to remain with the team.

They also feel he could earn them more cash down the line with his contract not expiring until 2025.

That would be a serious setback for director of recruitment Nils Koppen and coach Philippe Clement, who had endorsed the playmaker who has been in good form this season, scoring four goals in 15 games from wide areas.
