Bru McCoy declares his back for the 2024 season.

With the return of Bru McCoy, vz will have a significant piece of the puzzle back for the 2024 campaign. With one game left in his eligibility, the seasoned wide receiver officially announced his return to the Volunteers on Tuesday night.

McCoy sustained a severe lower body injury against South Carolina, from which he is still recovering. The former five-star athlete is a 6-3, 220 pound receiver. After a crazy recruitment, he ended up at USC, where he played for three seasons. Before the 2022 season, McCoy moved to Tennessee, where he started right away.

McCoy caught 52 passes for 667 yards and four touchdowns in that 2022 campaign. Before suffering the injury in the 2023 season, McCoy participated in five games. For the season, he caught 17 passes for 217 yards and one touchdown.

It looks like McCoy is back in a fully loaded wide receiver group. Playing with him will be Squirrel White, who is back along with Nathan Lecock, Dont’e Thornton, Chas Nimrod, and Kaleb Webb. In addition to four-star receiver Braylon Staley, Tennessee will also welcome five-star receiver Mike Matthews. Chris Brazzell, a former receiver for Tulane, also committed to the Volunteers via transfer.

Nico Iamaleava will have all of those names surrounding him as he moves up to the starting quarterback position. Iamaleava wowed Tennessee with three ground-based touchdowns to lead Tennessee to a 35-0 victory against Iowa. He is now back with two experienced receivers and has added Brazzell, Matthews, and Staley for firepower.
