Commanders want to speak with Rams DC Raheem Morris about the head coaching position.

Following Ron Rivera’s firing on “Black Monday,” the Commanders have reportedly asked to interview Raheem Morris, the defensive coordinator for the Rams, for the head coaching position.

It is the day following the conclusion of the regular season, also known as “Black Monday” in the league, when head coaches are usually fired after disappointing results.

This season is no exception, as both Atlanta and Washington fired their head coaches in the wake of several firings by the Chargers, Panthers, and Raiders during the regular season.

Adam Schefter reports that Washington has requested permission to interview Rams defensive coordinator Raheem Morris for its opening following the Commanders’ dismissal of Ron Rivera.

Morris, an experienced NFL head coach, has the Rams defense playing at a high level.

Following Dan Quinn’s firing in 2020, the Hofstra alumnus served as interim head coach in Atlanta after serving as head coach of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers from 2009 to 2011. Morris has a 21-38 overall record in the league and no division victories. Morris was 17-31 in his Buccaneers career and 4-7 in his 11 games as the Falcons’ temporary head coach.
