Sunderland have held ‘preliminary talks’ with a Premier League star this month.
Sunderland is in severe need of a new striker after their existing group failed to score until Nazariy Rusyn’s goal on New Year’s Day due to a chaotic first half of the season.
Rusyn, Luis Hemir Semedo, Eliezer Mayenda, and Mason Burstow were all signed by the Black Cats during the summer, although none of them have made a good impression during their time on Wearside.
As they try to strengthen their assault, Sunderland has so far been connected to Kieffer Moore of Bournemouth, with the Cherries willing to loan out the Welshman.
Moore has struggled to get many minutes since Bournemouth was promoted to the Premier League, despite scoring 39 goals in his last 94 Championship games.
Sunderland will face stiff competition for the ‘unplayable’ 31-year-old’s signature, with the likes of Cardiff, Middlesbrough and Ipswich Town all thought to be interested.
Michael Beale’s said are said to have held talks over a potential move though, while The Northern Echo have reported that the club are now waiting on Bournemouth to make a decision over his future.
In order for Kieffer Moore to secure his spot in the Wales squad before the Euro play-offs in March, both Bournemouth and Moore will be in favor of a move that ensures the striker regular first-team games.
