Sunderland boss Michael Beale believes Jack Clarke is happy on Wearside and wants to continue leading the club’s play-off push
Michael Beale says the Black Cats are not under any pressure to sell players this month, but he is unsurprised by the increasing amount of transfer rumors around Sunderland’s outstanding player, Jack Clarke. This season, Clarke has been a shining light in the Championship. The gifted winger has scored twelve goals to help the Wearsiders push for the play-offs.
Just like his form last season did over the summer when Sunderland turned down a number of bids from newly-promoted Burnley, Beale says Clarke is having the best season of his career and that is bound to have attracted the attention of Premier League suitors. However, Beale thinks Clarke is content at Sunderland and wants to support the team’s play-off campaign this season in order to advance.
“If you’re doing what he’s doing week-in, week-out at the top end of the Championship there’s going to be people speaking well of you and there’s going to be speculation,” Beale stated. “I hope for that for our athletes.
