The team’s departure from Mike Vrabel has left a head coaching vacancy, which the Tennessee Titans leadership will fill on Saturday. After Josh McDaniels was fired by the Raiders, 45-year-old Pierce was hired as head coach. He led the squad to an upset win against the Kansas City Chiefs on Christmas, closing with a record of 5-4. While they continue to interview other candidates, Pierce is weighing his options and the Raiders are thinking about removing the interim tag from him.

Pierce began coaching as a high school head coach at Long Beach Poly in California before joining Arizona State in 2018 as linebackers coach and recruitment coordinator. He worked at Arizona State from 2018 to 2021, where he was promoted to Assistant Head Coach/Defensive Coordinator. After that, he joined the Raiders.

On Friday, the Titans interviewed Bengals offensive coordinator Brian Callahan and Giants offensive coordinator Mike Kafka for the position. The Titans have requested interviews with at least nine coaches: Callahan, Kafka, Pierce, the Detroit Lions’ Aaron Glenn and Ben Johnson, the Baltimore Ravens’ Mike Macdonald, the Dallas Cowboys’ Dan Quinn, the Houston Texans’ Bobby Slowik, and the Philadelphia Eagles’ Brian Johnson.
