Striker Sam Lammers has refused to say moving to Rangers was a mistake for him, despite leaving to join FC Utrecht on loan this week having failed to impress Philippe Clement.

After temporarily departing Ibrox to join the Dutch team on loan until the end of the season, the 26-year-old has been chatting with NOS in the Netherlands.

Lammers had only been at Rangers since leaving Atalanta in the summer transfer window of the previous year to sign a €3.5 million contract with the team as former manager Michael Beale sought to expand his options for forwards.

However, the striker’s time at Rangers turned out to be less than ideal, as he only managed two goals and two assists in 31 games this season.

When Fabio Silva arrived on loan from Wolves earlier this month, it seemed like manager Philippe Clement was done with him, and Rangers were apparently more than willing to make a move when Utrecht approached.
It is now debatable if he will remain at Ibrox past the summer, as most people believe that his transfer to the Rangers was somewhat of a mistake. Lammers, however, declines to see it that way.
