The Black Cats are among a clutch of clubs in the hunt for a play-off spot this season
Former Sunderland left-back Wayne Bridge insists the Black Cats must kick on if they want to keep their Championship play-off hopes alive – but he is yet to see any evidence of that under Michael Beale.
The Wearsiders made the bold decision to part company with Tony Mowbray in December, with ex-Rangers manager Beale taking charge of Sunderland’s promotion push. However, the Black Cats have won just twice in his first six games in charge, with Saturday’s 2-1 defeat at Ipswich leaving them outside the play-off places, behind Coventry City on goal difference.
Ex-Chelsea full-back Bridge, who played eight games on loan for Sunderland in 2012, says they are in danger of missing out, unless they find some consistent form under their new manager.
