Coventry City are claimed to have been among a number of Championship clubs who attempted to sign marauding Liverpool full-back Owen Beck. The 21-year-old had been earning rave reviews on a season-long loan at Dundee until an injury crisis at Anfield saw manager Jurgen Klopp triggering the Reds’ recall option.

The attacking left-back made 20 appearances in all competitions for the Scottish Premiership side and his impressive form earned him a first senior Wales call-up in October. The Athletic report that several Championship clubs – including Coventry City, Stoke City, Millwall and Hull City – along with a handful of League One teams, enquired about taking him on loan for the second half of the season. “Those approaches were rebuffed,” says the article.

The Sky Blues, of course, already have two competing left-backs in Jake Bidwell and summer signing Jay Dasilva, although Beck is understood to be comfortable playing a higher wide role – a position Dasilva has been deployed in a couple of times in recent weeks.
