Rangers target Marko Bulat has officially sealed a contract extension at Dinamo Zagreb, quashing all speculation over an exit.

Glasgow World reported on 19 January that this would be the end of Gers’ pursuit of the 22-year-old midfielder.

Football Scotland claimed that any deal to sign the Croatian would’ve cost the Ibrox outfit a fee of £5million.

Rangers’ frustrating January transfer window has seen Philippe Clement’s side linked to various players, but little progress has been made bar Fabio Silva.

Despite their pursuit of Bulat, the player has extended his contract, ending any hope of a move to Ibrox.

Gers, keen to strengthen their creative midfield options, faced a potential obstacle with Dinamo’s £5million asking price as well.

With John Lundstram as the mainstay and limited options due to injuries and form concerns, Rangers must swiftly pivot to alternative targets.

Jose Cifuentes has been a dismal signing while Ryan Jack has faced tremendous injury woes and may even be shown the door in the summer.

Head of recruitment Nils Koppen had monitored Bulat in December, but the club must now efficiently shift focus, considering their January plans.

A left-back is also understood to be the need of the hour and all these things must be considered quickly.
