Kerem Ovet has doubts over whether Rangers defender Ridvan Yilmaz would be an ideal signing for Galatasaray in the January transfer window.
But he questioned whether the Turkish international is a suitable option for the Super Lig side despite them seemingly being in the running to take the Besiktas academy product back to Istanbul this month.
“Ridvan Yilmaz is a very dynamic player, he promises something as a playmaking full-back, but is he a suitable fullback for Galatasaray?,” asked Ovet.
“I have my doubts about this. What Galatasaray needs is the fullback version of Baris Alper. In fact, we can say that Boey on the left is wanted.”
It looks extremely likely that a Rangers exit will be on the cards for Yilmaz after there has been speculation about his future since the start of the January transfer window.
Galatasaray have been one of a few different clubs that have been credited with an interest in signing him as he appears to be open to a return to Turkey.
That would present Philippe Clement with a slight problem as Borna Barisic, who is out of contract in the summer, would be the only left-back at the club if the Turk were to leave.
The Gers do still have time to get someone else through the door, but the Belgian boss will likely be keen to get it all sorted before there is a potential rush to get deals done at the end of the window.
It will be interesting to see whether or not the left-back is included in the squad for the Scottish Cup trip to Dumbarton on Saturday (20 January) as that could indicate where his future lies.
