Marvin Lewis will be joining Antonio Pierce’s team.
With the interim tag of Antonio Pierce’s title on Friday, the Raiders have a new head coach. He can now start the process of adding more employees to his team.
Tom Coughlin is allegedly advising Pierce.
According to NFL Media, the Raiders want Marvin Lewis on staff in an official capacity. Halfway through the season, Pierce was named interim coach, so he hired Lewis to assist him.
Lewis will now likely have an official position.
Given the length of the men’s relationship, it is not surprising. Prior to Pierce joining the Raiders in 2022, the two worked under Herm Edwards at Arizona State, where Lewis served as Pierce’s coach in Washington.
According to NFL Media, Pierce will not keep the majority of the team’s offensive personnel, including interim coordinator Bo Hardegree.
The Raiders ranked 27th in terms of average yardage per game (289.5) and 23rd in terms of points per game (19.5).
