The Sky Sports Cup semifinal match between Celtic Women and Rangers ended in a close and exciting loss for Elena Sadiku’s maiden game in charge of the team.

The thrilling contest, which saw Celtic take the lead early on, ended with a penalty call in the final moments that gave Rangers the advantage and ended the game 3-2.

In the post-match remarks to CeltsAreHere.com, Sadiku discussed her viewpoint on the penalty that ultimately decided the game. “I’m not sure, but it didn’t seem that bad from my end [Caitlin Hayes’ challenge].” She remarked, “I haven’t seen it back,” expressing the apprehension that frequently surrounds such pivotal moments in sports. Additionally, Sadiku reported that Caitlin Hayes, who took part in the task, apologized to the squad, saying, “Caitlin said sorry for the whole team.”

Even with the unfortunate result, Sadiku has hope for the future. “I’m excited to spend an entire week with the team; it promises to be incredible.” I really can’t wait. Because I know the females and they know me, the situation will be more relaxed. I’m eager to look forward as a result,” she said.

Sadiku emphasized the need of taking what may be learned from the game and using it as a chance for improvement rather than as a setback. She said, “I’m going to make sure we learn a lot from this game because, to me, it’s about stepping up and doing better, not about stepping down.”

Sadiku summed up her first week in Glasgow as demanding yet rewarding. Her commitment to growth and her excitement for the position were clear. It has been a demanding week. I’m overjoyed to be here. I’m excited for this to go on, to work even harder, to pick up new skills, and to collaborate with others. We obviously have a lot of potential, and I’m eager to find out more about the participants and the style of play,” she remarked.

“The fans were incredible and I can’t wait for the next game to have them behind us again,” Sadiku said, praising the Celtic supporters for their amazing support and looking forward to having them cheer on the squad in future games.

Despite the setback, her debut establishes a positive and resolute tone for Celtic Women under her direction. Building on the team’s strengths and addressing areas for improvement will be the main priorities as Sadiku gets used to her new role, with an eye toward future accomplishments.
