This month, Rangers will “test the water” with regards to signing Hearts icon Lawrence Shankland.

Pundit Tam McManus claims that, with contract talks still ongoing with the team, the Scotland international has reportedly rejected a proposal that would have made him the highest paid player at the team in a decade. The Jambos now have a difficult task in persuading Shankland to remain in Gorgie past the summer of 2025, as rumors of a transfer to Ibrox and English Championship teams are circulating.

Due to illness, Shankland was unable to participate in the Hearts’ close 2-1 victory over League Two team Spartans. However, rumors that a transfer may occur this month have only grown more intense. Due to his absence, he wouldn’t be tied up when the transfer window ends, which has fueled rumors that the 28-year-old would be heading to Rangers, a rival team in the Scottish Premiership, before February 1.
