Four Bengals free agents could sign with the team if Brian Callahan decides to leave Cincinnati.

It appears as though offensive coordinator Brian Callahan of the Cincinnati Bengals may actually leave the team this season to take a head coaching position with another team.

Just after becoming the NFL’s offensive coordinator with the longest tenure, Callahan was in contact with four different teams regarding head coaching openings as of this writing.

It is interesting that the Bengals have some important offensive players who are eligible for free agency at the same time as Callahan’s potential departure and the probable promotion of Dan Pitcher.

That might result in one of the following players (Chargers, Titans, Panthers, or Falcons) actually joining Callahan on one of the interested teams.

Tee Higgins (WR) The Bengals plan to tag Tee Higgins with the franchise tag (or Tyler Boyd). However, if that does not work out for some reason, a team like the Panthers will have plenty of cap space to offer a big contract and will be eager to provide big targets for Bryce Young, the number one pick, in order to aid in his development.

If Higgins is not the problem, Callahan might simply want a dependable veteran like Tyler Boyd to fill the slot someplace. It will also be easy for some of these teams to overpay for him.

OT Williams Jonah
With plenty of cap space to overpay Williams, a team like the Panthers could use assistance at offensive tackle. Although he performed admirably at right tackle, it is conceivable that his next team would prefer to use him at left tackle.
