Josh Oglesby will take over as offensive line coach at Arizona.
In the process of assembling his coaching staff, Arizona head coach Brent Brennan has added Josh Oglesby, a former offensive line coach at San Jose State, to the team. After being hired in March 2020 as the offensive line coach at San José State University, Oglesby just concluded his fourth season with the Spartans.
Quarterback Chevan Cordeiro of the Spartans led the Mountain West in 2022 with 3,251 passing yards and 23 touchdown passes, thanks in large part to the offensive line. With 31 touchdowns in all, he also topped the Mountain West in scoring.
The nine quarterback running touchdowns set a modern-day SJSU record, while the 23 throwing touchdowns were the most under Brennan in a season. Elijah Cooks, a wide receiver, finished the season with 1,076 yards and 10 touchdowns, the most under Brennan.
Furthermore, running back Kairee Robinson scored 10 touchdowns and rushed for 752 yards, a career-high.
One of the best pass-protecting groups in the country was developed by Oglesby’s offensive lineman during his first season with the Spartans. San Jose State tied for ninth place nationally in quarterback sacks allowed per game despite having four different starting offensive lines over the course of an eight-game season.

The Spartans’ rushing attack, which averaged 4.5 yards per run and 132.5 yards per game, was also the strongest it has been in five years. Jack Snyder, a left tackle, was the first offensive lineman at San Jose State to be named to the first team of the league in eight years. In 2022, Snyder opted to join with the Los Angeles Rams.
Oglesby played offensive guard for the University of Wisconsin Badgers, who represented the Big Ten Conference in the Rose Bowl in 2010 and 2011. He was named to the first team of the 2011 Big Ten honorees. Before going into teaching, Oglesby played football professionally for Washington of the National Football League in 2012.
In addition, he took part in the Bill Walsh NFL Diversity Coaching Fellowship programs with the Indianapolis Colts in 2019 and the Oakland Raiders in 2016.
Oglesby worked as an assistant offensive line coach for the Seattle Dragons of the XFL in 2019 before to joining San Jose State. In addition, he served as the tight ends coach for the Alliance of American Football’s San Antonio Commanders in 2019 and as a quality control staff assistant at the University of Texas El Paso in 2018.
Oglesby began his career at Wisconsin as a graduate assistant in 2013 and 14. He also worked with the offensive linemen for three seasons as a quality control staff assistant at Oregon State University from 2015 to 2017.
Oglesby was a nominee for the 2023 Broyles Award, which recognizes the best assistant coaches in college football, during the previous season. This past season, Oglesby assisted in leading the Spartans to a four-game winning run by leading the team in rushing yards for four straight games—a feat not seen since 2000.
