Ridvan Yilmaz should start for Rangers against Hibernian on Wednesday (24 January) despite the “constant noise” surrounding his future, according to Derek Clark.

Writing on the Rangers Review website on Wednesday, the journalist said the Turkey international has “performed well” in recent games and will need to produce another “top display” at Easter Road.

It comes as the speculation continues around a potential move to Galatasaray for the 22-year-old in the January transfer window, with the Turkish club set to hold more talks with the Gers over a potential loan deal this week Fanatik.

It must be a difficult situation for Philippe Clement to manage at this moment in time as transfer speculation around Yilmaz has been going on since the January window opened.

He’s been linked with several different clubs, but it appears as though Galatasaray are now the firm favourites to land him should he leave Ibrox this month.

Despite the exit talk, the Gers boss has decided to continue playing the defender as he appears to have emerged as the first-choice left-back ahead of Borna Barisic.

Whether or not that’s in a bid to keep the Turk in Glasgow is anyone’s guess, but his performances lately have warranted an extended run in the first team.

As long as something doesn’t develop over the next few hours, you would expect him to line up against Hibernian as the Light Blues look to pick up an important three points in the capital.
