Peter Grant was asked the question as to whether Celtic should look towards possibly signing Bristol City forward, Tommy Conway.
The 21-year-old is a highly-rated figure in the English Championship and he recently put his name up in lights when his goals knocked David Moyes’ West Ham United out of the FA Cup.
After scoring at the London Stadium, Tommy Conway scored the winner in the replay at Ashton Gate.
When the Scotland U21 was mentioned to Peter Grant, he labelled him a ‘talented boy’, but saw one major issue in this possible deal taking place for Celtic, as he told Go Radio.
Without negotiations even starting, he thinks a club like Bristol City would demand ‘£6-7 million’ for the player, which then gives Celtic no chance.
Those in the Parkhead boardroom aren’t going to push to those levels because it will mean that they would have to enter record-breaking territory.
Of course, if you could get a player like Tommy Conway for Matt O’Riley-like money, then he probably would be worth looking at, but apart from that, it’s a big no from Peter Grant.
“He scored two, home and away,” said Grant about Conway’s goals in the FA Cup. “He is a talented boy.
