NBA Rumors: Former Big Man for the Boston Celtics Could Be Traded

The Portland Trail Blazers are reportedly a club to watch, according to stories and speculations that surfaced around two weeks before the NBA trade deadline. According to Chris Haynes of Bleacher Report, the Blazers may move Robert Williams, a former first-round pick of the Boston Celtics, after he has played six games with the organization.

In exchange for Jrue Holiday in October, the Blazers received Williams and Malcolm Brogdon, the current Sixth Man of the Year, in a deal with the Celtics.

Williams had surgery on his right knee in November, which prevented him from playing the remainder of the season. The product of Louisiana averaged 6.8 points, 6.3 rebounds, and 1.2 blocks per game in his six games with the Trail Blazers.

NBA Rumors: Potential Move for Former Boston Celtics Big Man
Why Is Trading Williams Allowed by the Trail Blazers?
Without question, Williams is a highly reliable big guy when healthy. Williams had his finest season to date in 2021–22, averaging 10.2 points, 9.6 rebounds, and 2.2 blocks per game in 61 games, which led to his first nomination to the All-Defensive Second Team. All of these figures, including the total games played, continue to be “Time Lord’s” career highs. But this is the main thing that worries me about Williams. Williams has only participated in 215 games during the regular season in six NBA seasons. Since being selected in 2018, he has missed more games than he has participated in.

Given Williams’ extensive history of injuries, Portland may be trading the big man for him. But it doesn’t seem like the Trail Blazers are aggressively hawking Williams, and according to Haynes, they could just be amenable to the notion of a trade.

The Blazers want to be transparent. There is no disputing that. They will be transparent if the proper arrangement is made. .. There’s no doubt that Robert Williams is accessible.

In addition, the Trail Blazers now have the second-worst record in the Western Conference with a 12-31 record. Portland is not a contender for the championship and could be willing to add additional players.
