Is Callum Styles on his way to Sunderland? Speculation about the Hungarian international’s potential loan move to Sunderland, with an obligation to buy in the summer, gained traction following his absence from Barnsley’s squad in their recent game against Oxford United on Tuesday night.
Barnsley’s chairman, Neerav Parekh, hinted at the possibility of Styles leaving the club by the end of the week, while manager Neill Collins confirmed ongoing negotiations with another club.
Despite links to Birmingham City and Hull City, Sunderland appears to be the frontrunner in securing the 23-year-old’s signature. Styles, who has earned 18 caps for Hungary, is versatile, capable of playing in central or attacking roles, as well as on the left side of midfield.
In the current season, he has made 21 appearances for Barnsley, contributing three goals and two assists. Last season, Styles was loaned to Millwall, where he featured in 22 Championship games, registering one goal and one assist.
