A Tennessee Vols veteran shares the single aspect that Josh Heupel doesn’t tolerate during practices.

Tennessee Vols head coach Josh Heupel maintains high standards but isn’t prone to erupting in a Nick Saban-esque manner during practices; it’s not his typical approach. However, according to senior offensive lineman Cooper Mays, there’s one behavior Heupel “won’t tolerate” during practice sessions.

During a recent appearance on “Off the Hook Sports,” Mays discussed Tennessee football updates, and host Dave Hooker inquired if he had witnessed Heupel “lose it.”

“Nah, lose it? He doesn’t really do much of that,” responded Mays. “But he does get upset if anyone engages in fights. He doesn’t tolerate that. It’s the one thing that bothers him, although he doesn’t really lose his temper.”

Hooker mentioned that Heupel has been seen confronting officials during games, prompting a chuckle from Mays.

“I’m usually on the field or on the bench focusing on corrections, so I don’t witness much of that, but I’m sure it happens,” Mays remarked with a laugh.

Heupel is widely recognized as highly competitive, yet he manages to maintain his composure, a trait appreciated by his players.
