Javontez Spraggins declares his intention to return in 2024.

The confirmation has arrived after weeks of speculation — Javontez Spraggins will indeed be returning to Tennessee for the 2024 season. Making the announcement through his X account on Thursday, the standout offensive guard joins Cooper Mays and John Campbell in returning. Additionally, Tennessee welcomes former five-star recruit Lance Heard to the roster, where he is expected to assume the left tackle position. With this wealth of experience and talent on the offensive line, first-year starter Nico Iamaleava stands to benefit significantly.

Spraggins, once a three-star prospect, has transformed himself into a promising NFL candidate, with CBS Sports even projecting him as a first-round pick in a mock draft last summer. Opting to delay his professional career for another year, Spraggins will play a key role in ushering in the Iamaleava era at Knoxville.

Looking ahead, Spraggins’ focus will be on recovering fully from a knee injury sustained late last year. It remains to be seen if he’ll be prepared for spring practices commencing in mid-March.
