Michigan has made its choice for the upcoming head coach.
The University of Michigan has made its decision regarding the next head football coach.
Michigan has chosen Sherrone Moore as their upcoming head coach. Moore, aged 37, has been part of Michigan’s coaching staff since 2018. He progressed from being the tight ends coach to holding the position of co-offensive coordinator/offensive line coach. Moore gained valuable experience as a head coach during the previous season when he led the Wolverines, who eventually won the national championship.
During Jim Harbaugh’s school-mandated 3-game suspension at the beginning of the season, Moore was one of three coaches who stepped in. He guided the team to victory against Bowling Green during that period. Later in the season, when the Big Ten suspended Harbaugh, Moore acted as the head coach for three games, winning all three, including significant victories against rival Ohio State and at Penn State. Overall, Moore achieved a 4-0 record as the acting head coach.
Michigan has offered Moore a 5-year contract starting at $5.5 million.
Promoting Moore to head coach ensures continuity for Michigan’s football program. Keeping Moore on board may help prevent potential player departures via the transfer portal in the coming month.
