Jefte’s loan club, who is being targeted by Rangers, has made hints that they anticipate the defender’s move to Ibrox to happen soon.
Prior to the transfer window closing this next week, Philippe Clement’s team is getting closer to making a move for the Brazilian left back.
The 20-year-old is on loan from Brazilian powerhouse Fluminense to the Cypriot club APOEL; in order to transfer to Glasgow, he would need to finish his stay on the Mediterranean island. This complicates the deal.
After their 4-0 victory over Nea Salamis on Friday, manager Ricardo Sa Pinto was questioned about Jefte’s future. He was not included in the team’s victory.
“With Jefte, this is an internal matter that the club is currently handling,” he stated.
“We will formally notify everyone if there is any fresh information. The details will become obvious in the next 24 to 48 hours if you have patience.”
The Rio de Janeiro club has a deal with the defender that runs through the end of the following year. When he first signed a contract with the team two years ago, he said, “I’m very happy and fulfilling a dream of being able to defend the Fluminense colors.”
