Sick c Player Is not Getting Better
Prior to tomorrow’s game against the Golden State Warriors, Los Angeles Lakers rookie forward Maxwell Lewis, who has been out with a non-COVID-19 illness recently, has had his status upgraded to probable, according to Jovan Buha of The Athletic. The 6’7″ small forward has not yet managed to force his way into Darvin Ham’s starting lineup for the 23-23 Lakers, even after LA traded for his draft rights with the No. 40 pick out of Pepperdine. He has primarily played mop-up minutes in 15 contests, averaging just 4.1 minutes per night. He is generated some excitement for the South Bay Lakers, Los Angeles’ NBA G League affiliate in El Segundo. Lewis is averaging 13.5 points on.432/.349/.875 shooting splits, 4.5 rebounds, 0.8 blocks, 0.8 steals, and 0.7 dimes in 11 games with South Bay this season. Lewis, 21, is a bit raw right now, but he has intriguing size for his position. Two more Lakers who have chronic injuries will not be able to play against the Dubs in the interim. These two, regrettably, are a regular part of Los Angeles’ lineup. Small forward Cam Reddish’s right ankle sprain will keep him out of the game for the next two weeks, and backup point guard Gabe Vincent is still healing from surgery to remove a left knee effusion. LeBron James and Anthony Davis, two All-Stars, are dubious candidates to play.
