As the transfer window draws to a close, the need for Celtic to add quality to the first team was never more evident after watching the win over Ross County yesterday.

The Hoops were unable to add to the Alistair Johnston 60-second opening goal, which ended up winning, even though they controlled the play with over 70% of the possession and 17 shots on goal [Sky Sports].

This morning, TBR Celtic reported that as Brendan Rodgers attempts to add that quality, Celtic are keeping an eye on Sydney van Hooijdonk’s circumstances.

Kenny Dalglish, though, appears to think the Hoops manager won’t acquire the striker he wants and will end the January transfer season with just Kyogo Furuhashi and Hyeongyu Oh as his two frontmen.

Dalglish stated [on page 88 of The Sunday Post print edition], “Brendan Rodgers has expressed his desire to bolster his team with quality players.”

Nicolas Kuhn has traveled from Rapid Vienna so far, paying about £3 million.

Will Celtic bring in a striker before Thursday? I’m not entirely certain.

It’s challenging to find a player who can outperform the ones who are currently there at this point.
