Experienced forward Corey Perry is now a member of the Edmonton Oilers.

According to TSN’s Ryan Rishaug, both Perry and the Oilers have reached a contractual agreement, with an official announcement anticipated on Monday.

TSN Hockey Insider Chris Johnston reports that the contract spans the remainder of the season and is anticipated to feature pro-rated salary along with performance bonuses.

Perry’s agreement with the Chicago Blackhawks was ended on November 30th due to his involvement in behavior deemed unacceptable and violating both his Standard Player’s Contract and the team’s internal policies aimed at fostering professional and safe work environments.

Following a sluggish start to the season, marked by the dismissal of head coach Jay Woodcroft, the Oilers have emerged as the NHL’s top-performing team in the last month, currently boasting a 13-game winning streak.

At 38 years old, Perry recorded four goals and five assists across 16 games with Chicago in the ongoing season. He joined the Blackhawks through a trade with the Tampa Bay Lightning in June, where he was swapped for a seventh-round pick, subsequently signing a one-year, $4-million deal with Chicago.

Throughout his career spanning 1,273 NHL games, the Peterborough, Ontario native accumulated 421 goals and 892 points, having played for the Anaheim Ducks, Dallas Stars, Montreal Canadiens, Lightning, and Blackhawks.

Perry clinched the Hart Memorial and Maurice “Rocket” Richard trophies in 2011 and contributed to the Ducks’ victory in the franchise’s inaugural Stanley Cup in 2007 during his second year in the league.

He was drafted as the 28th overall pick by the Ducks in the 2003 NHL Draft.
