A loan trade between Sunderland and Arsenal’s Charles Sagoe Jr. is being discussed ahead of next week’s January transfer market closing, FootballTransfers has learned.
A number of teams have expressed interest in signing the Gunners’ talented winger, but we are aware that the Black Cats are pushing for this signing.
The lone academy product to play for Arsenal first team this year is Sagoe Jr. The North London club defeated Brentford 1-0 in the League Cup back in September, and Sagoe Jr. showed off his skills against the Bees.
After a fantastic season in the Championship with Manchester United, Sunderland was said to be interested in signing winger Amad Diallo. However, sources now tell us that they have their sights set on the Gunners’ superstar.
We have been informed that Sagoe might be leaving on loan, and that Omar Rekik might also be moving. The defender is presently working out with the Arsenal first squad after returning from a loan stint at Wigan. We are aware that the center back might leave for a little period of time again within this window in order to obtain more playing time.
Sagoe Jr., who was born in Kingston-Upon-Thames in 2004, moved from Fulham to Arsenal. In 26 games, the teenager scored six goals for the Under-21 team.
He was listed as a reserve for Arsenal’s Europa League match against Sporting CP in March of last year, even though he didn’t play that day.
The 19-year-old has been compared to Arsenal’s top right-winger Bukayo Saka, who also attended Hale End Academy.
