Former Bills offensive coordinator Ken Dorsey will join the Browns
To help quarterback Deshaun Watson get back on track, the Cleveland Browns are looking to former Buffalo Bills offensive coordinator Ken Dorsey. Less than three months after the Bills fired him during the season, ESPN said on Sunday night that the Browns had hired Dorsey. While acknowledging the team’s interest in Dorsey, The Akron Beacon Journal stated that the hiring was still pending. In 2006 and 2008, the 42-year-old Dorsey played for the Browns during two of his four seasons as an NFL quarterback. With the team struggling to a 5-5 start this season, Buffalo fired Dorsey. Before he left, the Bills had been held to 25 points or fewer in six straight games. While his position with the Browns is still unknown, Dorsey called plays for Buffalo’s offense as coordinator. Alex Van Pelt, his predecessor in Cleveland, did not make play-calling decisions. Since his hiring in 2020, head coach Kevin Stefanski has maintained that position. After the Browns were humiliated 45-14 by the Houston Texans in the playoff wild-card round on January 13, Van Pelt was fired a few days later. From 2013 to 2017, Dorsey coached the quarterbacks for the Carolina Panthers. 2019 saw him accept the same position with the Bills, and 2021 saw the addition of the position of offensive pass game coordinator. In 2022, he took over as offensive coordinator.
