Former FSU Football Quarterback Meets With Steelers, Reveals Season-Ending Injury
The former Seminole quarterback, Jordan Travis, who faced a season-ending leg injury during Florida State’s 11th game, has not allowed the setback to hinder his pursuit of a professional football career. Currently in Frisco, TX, for the Shrine Bowl, Travis revealed that he had discussions with the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Travis joining the Steelers presents an exciting opportunity, especially as uncertainties linger at the quarterback position for the team. Former first-round pick Kenny Pickett was sidelined due to an ankle injury, while veteran backup Mason Rudolph closed out the season. Travis, despite recovering from a fibula fracture, sees the potential to contend for a starting quarterback role early in his professional career.
Despite the challenging injury, Travis remains proactive in the draft process. He anticipates shedding his protective boot in a few weeks, eyeing a full recovery by May. Travis has received an invitation to the NFL Draft Combine, where he plans to participate in interviews, meetings, and health evaluations in mid-April.
Expressing his cautious approach, Travis stated, “I won’t be able to run, probably. I just want to be smart but at the same time show these teams I’m gonna be good.”
As a dual-threat quarterback with extensive college-level experience, Travis spent one season with Louisville before playing five seasons with the Seminoles. His consistent improvement eventually led to him becoming a standout in the sport. Having contributed to a program turnaround at Florida State, Travis has demonstrated his ability to orchestrate crucial drives and win significant games. The upcoming NFL draft will be intriguing to watch, considering the timing and nature of Travis’s injury and the dynamics of the pre-draft process in the NFL.
