Jeff Jackson from the Edmonton Oilers discussed the team’s trade deadline strategies with The Athletic. He mentioned that the organization is carefully evaluating the market and exploring various options, expressing satisfaction with the current state of the team. However, Jackson emphasized their readiness to make a move if it aligns with their overall objectives.

As the deadline approaches, the challenge lies in the fact that many teams are still in playoff contention, causing a reluctance to sell assets hastily. Jackson highlighted that the Oilers will be proactive and prepared to act when viable opportunities arise, indicating a strategic approach to potential deals.

Regarding goaltending, Jackson expressed confidence in the team’s current situation. He stated, “We are pleased with the performances of both Picks (Calvin Pickard) and Skins (Stuart Skinner) here, and Jack (Campbell) is doing exceptionally well in Bakersfield lately. We’re in a good position right now.”

This marks a significant improvement from the beginning of the season when goaltending was a major uncertainty for the team. Jackson added that they feel the team is strong in the forward positions, and the defense is performing admirably. While there’s no immediate pressure to make changes, they are ready to seize opportunities if they arise.
