The Vegas Golden Knights achieve a clean season sweep against the New York Rangers, securing a 5-2 victory.

The Vegas Golden Knights secured their second consecutive victory by defeating the New York Rangers 5-2 at Madison Square Garden on Friday night. Jonathan Marchessault added another hat trick to his career, marking the fifth one. This game, the second and last meeting between the two teams this season, followed VGK’s earlier 5-1 win at The Fortress on Jan. 18. The Golden Knights now hold an 8-4 all-time record against the Rangers.

Sheldon Rempal initiated the scoring for the Golden Knights in the first period, tipping in a pass from Nic Hague at 5:02. This was Rempal’s second NHL goal, with the first coming on Tuesday. The Rangers quickly responded, tying the game less than two minutes later when Blake Wheeler fired a wrist shot past Adin Hill’s left shoulder.

The second period featured a flurry of goals, with Keegan Kolesar reclaiming the lead for VGK by getting the puck past goalie Igor Shesterkin. Just 46 seconds later, Marchessault scored with a tip in front of the net.

Entering the third period with a 2-1 lead, VGK continued to build on their advantage. Ivan Barbashev’s attempt to shoot in front of the net ended up bouncing off the boards behind it, and Marchessault capitalized on the rebound to make it 4-1 less than three minutes into the period.
